Grandmother, Active In Community
Virginia Ann Genlot, 88, of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Fellowship Village, in Basking Ridge, N.J. Known by all as Ann Genlot, she was born on September 12, 1936, in De Kalb, Gilmer County, West Virginia, to the late Herbert J. and Dessie (Cather) Patterson. Ann was an early childhood educator and also a crossing guard for the Town of Westfield, N.J. A member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), she was active as a leader with the Girl Scouts.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph; her dear grandson, Brandon Genlot; and her brother, Robert Patterson. She also was the dear sister of Frances Greve, who died just two weeks after Ann’s passing. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Brower, and her husband, John, of Middletown, N.J.; son, Jeffrey Genlot, and his wife, Donna, of Westfield; her grandchildren, James, Daniel and Kayla, and her great-grandson, Benjamin. Ann’s visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield, where a prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday.
