The third-seeded, 15-6 Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School baseball team jumped all over the AL Johnson Crusaders in the quarterfinal round of the Union County Tournament, 16-0, in four and one-half innings on May 8. Winning pitcher Ryan Quinones was on the mound three innings and recorded five strikeouts.
Quinones also whacked a home run, singled, was hit by a pitch and had two RBI. Jaden Carpien blasted a home run and had two RBI. Joe LaRosa also homered, doubled, scored twice and had five RBI. Jack Sponheimer doubled, singled, scored twice and had an RBI. CJ Bates went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Chris Kennedy doubled twice, scored twice and had an RBI. Mike Bellistri scored three times. Justin Zdeb, Tom Huff and Vince Cilento singled for Johnson.
