Clergy Association to Hold Food Drive May 3 to 5

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Clergy Association will conduct a town-wide “Feeding the Hungry” food drive Friday through Sunday, May 3, 4 and 5, in collaboration with its partners, the Westfield Police Department and the Westfield High School Community Service Club. Donations will go to the Westfield Food Pantry and its associated smaller pantries.

Shortfalls in family budgets have resulted in food shortages and less-than-healthy food options for an increasing number of families in the area. The Westfield Food Pantry has been helping to meet the needs of such families for almost 50 years.

Requested items include pancake syrup, pancake mix, peanut butter, grape jelly, cereals, macaroni and cheese, Beefaroni (canned), pasta, spaghetti sauce, diapers, and personal-care items such as toothpaste, deodorant, etc. They will be accepted this Saturday, May 4, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in a designated area of the parking lot at Edison Intermediate School, located at 800 Rahway Avenue opposite Kehler Stadium.

Donations also may be dropped off at the following houses of worship during their weekend service hours: Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 414 East Broad Street, Westfield; Temple Emanu-El, 756 East Broad Street, Westfield; First United Methodist Church, 1 East Broad Street, Westfield; Community Presbyterian Church, 1459 Deer Path, Mountainside; Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 512 Westfield Avenue, Westfield; St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield.

Financial donations can be made through the following link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=9MF7KFKHXFVQU&source=qr or by check made payable to the Westfield Food Pantry, 540 Coleman Place, Westfield, N.J. 07090.
