Only one loss in the season made the Governor Livingston Highlanders ice hockey boys the heavily favored when they faced off with the Westfield Blue Devils for the Union County Tournament championship at Warinanco Park Rink in Roselle on January 20. Although that loss was a 3-2 setback to Westfield on December 27, the Highlanders came back with a convincing, 5-2, win on January 8, but this time the Blue Devils took no prisoners and seized the crown with a 4-0 shutout.
