Crusaders Edge Scotties, 2-1; Down Allentown for Crown
Offensive support came just at the right time when the second-seeded AL Johnson High School softball Crusaders hosted the 11th-seeded Bordentown Scotties in the Central Jersey, Group 2 semifinal round in Clark on June 2. But it certainly took a while when both teams were locked in a vicious pitchers’ duel that dragged out for 10 innings bringing in the international tiebreaker rule until ghost runner Ava Todaro advanced to third base on a long fly ball by Cassie Conforti then tagged up on Liz Fitzharris’ fly to right field and beat the throw home to earn the Crusaders a 2-1 victory.
