Physician, Advocate For Policy Reform
Dr. Stephen L. DeFelice, pioneering physician, founder of the Foundation for Innovation in Medicine, and coiner of the term “nutraceutical,” passed away at 89.
A first-generation Italian American, he was instrumental in carnitine research, clinical pharmacology, and policy reform. His work bridged medicine, public health, and philosophy. Dr. DeFelice authored scientific and popular works, appeared on national media, and advocated for legislation to accelerate clinical discovery. He leaves behind a legacy of innovation that continues to impact global healthcare.
