FANWOOD — The Fanwood Planning Board was met with a full crowd for its hearing on a potential new apartment building at 389 South Avenue. The former Chippery building may be demolished to make way for a new, 16-unit, three-story apartment complex featuring three affordable units and 24 parking spaces. Residents from the surrounding area attended the meeting to raise concerns about the impact on parking and traffic, which some say is already a problem. The three-hour-long meeting ended without conclusion after the board was unable to work through all of the professional testimony and public comments. The hearing will continue on Wednesday, June 18, with the remaining architectural testimony and further public comment.
