Towns Can’t Just Say ‘No’ to Affordable Housing
There is a lot of discussion about affordable housing mandates, but the court of public opinion does not give credit to towns that manage the mandate well. Millburn Township, just a few miles away, offers a ready contrast to Cranford, and should be an object lesson for voters. For years Milburn kicked the proverbial “can down the road” and ignored their affordable housing mandates. Presently, Milburn only has 38 affordable homes on the books out of 1,300 needed to be in compliance with the law.
