The Cranford Democratic Party is honoring Union County Commissioner Bette Jane Kowalski this week and it was fitting the location of the reception was in Cranford. For 20 years, Commissioner Kowalski has been an elected member of the Union County governing board serving with distinction. She is from Cranford and has been a voice for transit, parks, social services and many other important county issues. I was fortunate to serve on Cranford’s Township Committee and asked her assistance for Cranford many times and her responsiveness to Cranford’s needs was foremost. Lots of things get taken for granted but knowing the record one can better appreciate her service. She got the county to fix and maintain Sperry Park; has ensured Nomehegan Park was upgraded and maintained; her role on the transit board helped to get major improvements approved; she expanded shared services to save taxpayer funds and many other initiatives.

In this time of angry leaders and unsettled issues, Commissioner Kowalski has continued to offer the best citizens can expect in their elected officials. Thanks BJ.
