Raiders Top Mount Olive In Girls Swim Quarterfinal

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School girls swim team toppled Mount Olive (MO), 96-74, in the quarterfinal round of the North 2, Group B Tournament on February 6. The 9-3 Raiders claimed five individual event first, including a sweep in the 50-freestyle, and won the 200medley relay.

Billie Sherratt, Tessa DeGennaro, Kiera St. John and Shae Trenery finished first in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:58.11, followed by MO’s Danielle Cabsaba, Hailey Tiu, Katelyn Mans and Kellie Carpentier at 2:00.28 and Raiders Sophie Isleta, Maddy Valera,Amelia Condell and JamieTrela at 2:08.2. MO’s Laurie Thomas won the 200-free in 2:09.65 followed by Raiders EmmaAmorin-Viera at 2:10.6 and Hannah Alber at 2:17.4.

A Raider touched first in the next four events beginning with Trenery winning the 200-Individual Medley in 2:21.04, followed by MO’s Tiu at 2:23.6 and Mans at 2:24.44, while Raider Caroline Lowder finished fourth at 2:37.27. DeGennaro led the sweep in the 50-free at 27.49, followed by Valera at 28.86 and Carolyn Joe at 29.05. Sherratt took first in the 100-butterfly at 58.38, followed by MO’s Cabsaba at1:01.26 and Isleta at 1:09.55. St. John took top honors in the 100-free at 59.04, followed by MO’s Thomas at 1:00.4 and Raider Condell at 1:02.85.

MO’s Mans won the 500-free in 5:45.83, followed by Raiders Trela at 6:15.48 and Peyton O’Donnell at 6:16.59. MO’s Thomas, Tiu, Carpentier and Tashjian Delaney took first in the 200-free relay at 1:52.66, followed by Raiders Alber, Viera, Condell and Joe at 1:54.61, and Rebecca Schmer, Lowder, Michalea Tang and Valera at 1:58.94.

Sherratt won the 100-backstroke in 59.13, followed by Cabsaba at 59.23 and Raiders Trela at 1:15.09 and Mckenna Jeans at 1:18.35. Tiu took first in the 100-breaststroke at 1:14.53, followed by Raider Gabby Soriani at 1:20.6, MO’s Delaney at 1:24.07 and Raider Lily Jayinski at 1:25.52. Mans, Carpentier, Thomas and Cabsaba took first in the 400-free relay at 4:06.15, followed by Isleta, Trela, Colleen Gillen and O’Donnell at 4:23.33.
