Obituaries
April 2, 2026
Lee M. Horner, Sr.

Lee M. Horner, Sr.

Lee Martin Horner, Sr. of Summit and Stone Harbor, New Jersey, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on February 24, 2026. Lee was predeceased by his beloved and devoted wife of 67 years, Nancy Wyman; his parents, Lillian and Arthur Horner; and his brother, Roger Horner. He is survived by his four children, Tracy (Kevin) Cornwell, Lisa (Brian) Gabriel, Amy (Eric) Anderson, and Lee (Michelle) Horner Jr. as well as nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his brother, Arthur Horner.

Born in 1932 and raised in Westfield, Lee graduated from Westfield High School in 1951 where he served as class president. As President of his class he was honored to place the cornerstone of the newly constructed high school. He earned a BA degree in Psychology from Colgate University in 1955. He served as president of the ATO fraternity and was a member of the Konosioni Honor Society.

Lee was the President and Owner of Wyman Ford in Maplewood, NJ for 46 years. In 1997, he was nationally recognized with TIME Magazines Quality Dealer Award. He was President and Trustee of the Ford Dealer Alliance, Ford Dealer Council, Newark FDAF and NJ CAR.

A dedicated civic leader, Lee served six years on the Summit City Council. He also served as President of the board of Maplewood Bank & Trust. He was an Elder at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ and also a proud member of the church choir for many years.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Lee was captain of his high school football team, enjoyed many years on the golf course, became an avid runner later in life, and successfully completed the Philadelphia Marathon. Lee’s happy place was reading a good book at sunset on the 87th Street beach in Stone Harbor. He was known for his warm smile, playful teasing manner and genuine ability to listen. Lee made everyone he met feel heard and valued. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

A celebration of life will be held at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ, on April 18 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Westfield High School Booster Association https://www.westfieldboosters.com/page/ show/7283151-550-club-donate
