Raiders Slip Past Blue Devils In Basketball Rivalry, 44-43
Get even may have been on the Scotch Plains-Fanwood boys basketball Raiders’ minds when for the second time, they faced the Westfield Blue Devils in a traditional rivalry game on January 20. In the opening game of the season in Scotch Plains on December 18, the Raiders trailed at halftime but inched their way back only to come up short, 56-55. This time, the 8-7 Raiders trailed by seven after the first quarter, rallied to knot the score at halftime then traded off points in the second half but came up on the top side of the tradeoff to snatch a 44-43 triumph.
