Blue Devils Hold Off Panthers For Sectional Soccer Crown
Adversity from the beginning of the season and unwanted flu come tournament time may have placed the top-seeded Westfield High School soccer Blue Devils at a disadvantage when they hosted the third-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers for the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Championship at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield on November 15. An early goal less than 12 minutes in the first half and a spectacular performance especially from the defense earned the No. 4, 18-0 Blue Devils the crown with a 1-0 victory over the No. 17, 13-9 Panthers.
