Soccer Blue Devil Boys Edge Pesky Newark East Side, 2-1
Despite being listed as the 14th seed, the Newark East Side soccer Red Raiders proved that they were a much better team than expected when they faced the third-seeded Westfield Blue Devils in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 playoffs at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield on November 4. The 9-9-2 Blue Devils clung to a 1-0 lead in the first half then matched the 7-11 Red Raiders in the second half to salvage a 2-1 victory.
