Other hobbies Gene (or Joe) pursued included fly fishing, golf, and tennis among others. He had a passion for history, researching and writing about the origins of World War II and the Axis pact.

Gene was deeply spiritual person, with a strong belief in God and a particular interest in the writings of St. Augustine.

Professionally, Gene built a successful career as an investment banker at Citibank, where he applied his analytical mind and global perspective to the financial world.
