Elections have consequences — some more than others. It’s clichéd to say that our choices today will shape the community we leave for future generations. But this election is also about the current state of affairs. It’s hard to disagree that we live in a deeply partisan nation. Unsurprisingly, Westfield isn’t immune to it. Yet it’s vital that we rise above this divide to tackle the challenges we face like traffic/public safety, support for small businesses, and improved sports facilities — all critical to maintaining the excellent quality of life we cherish in Westfield.
My family moved to Westfield from NYC around six years ago. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Vik on several school initiatives including the Washington School Show, where we shared the stage as actors and producers. His commitment and leadership, especially when we had to move the entire production to a new venue at the last minute, were extraordinary. Vik stayed calm and focused through late-night discussions, offering solutions and mobilizing his network to keep things on track. That experience left me with deep respect for him — and a clear sense that he’s someone you can count on when times are tough.
Anyone who has interacted with Vik knows he’s a force of nature — energetic, thoughtful, and deeply invested in people. He understands that leadership is about more than policies; it’s about people, community, and trust. And in these divided times, we need leaders like Vik more than ever. As the saying goes, showing up is half the job — and with Vik, there’s never any doubt.
