Ward 2 Needs Vik. Here’s Why.

Today, we’re living through a period where our politics has the power to turn neighbor against neighbor. It’s not something I’m used to. And it’s not an environment in which I want to raise my kids.

While we can’t individually affect the direction of our national politics, we can each play an important role in ensuring that we have the right leadership at the local level, right here in Westfield.

And that’s why Ward 2 needs Vik Venkataraman.

I could write a few chapters as to why at this moment in time, Vik is the right leader for our ward. But here, I’ll share just three reasons:

1. He’s about community, not party.

I often canvass with Vik, and I see him interact with the residents of our ward. I’m amazed at his ability to engage with people across the political spectrum and to listen without judgement and treat each speaker with dignity. He truly wants to see the community succeed. This even keeled, solutions-oriented mindset is something we sorely need at this time.

2. He knows the issues.

Coming from a business background, Vik is able to grasp complex issues – development, public safety, stormwater management, recreational fields and more, and propose smart, realistic solutions. He takes a deep interest in policy, but can distill it in a way that residents can understand, and that can actually be put into practice.

3. He cares.

This is the most important reason why we need Vik. A lot of people run for office – many for the wrong reasons. Vik is doing it because he cares. And if that sounds cliche, talk to him. I promise that you’ll immediately witness someone who lives and breathes Ward 2 and cares deeply about its well-being.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been so inspired by a political candidate. Vik Venkataraman is dynamic, optimistic, self-assured – and at the same time approachable and devoid of ego. This is a combination we should demand in all of our leaders.

I encourage you to reach out to Vik – vik@vikforcouncil.com – and get to know him. Ask questions, put him through the paces – you won’t be disappointed.

Westfield’s Ward 2 is a wonderful place to live. Let’s all Vote Vik and ensure it stays that way.
