Mildred Cerefice
In Loving Memory

Mildred Cerefice of Westfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Mildred was born in Albany, NY, to Jerome and Amelia Rovelli. She was raised in Albany along with her siblings Virginia, Delores, and Jerome. She attended Vincentian High School followed by St. Peter’s Nursing School in Albany. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital for several years before moving to New Jersey. Upon arriving in New Jersey, she worked in the critical care unit at Overlook Hospital before starting a family and raising three vibrant children – Julia, Jenna and Mark – in Westfield. She returned to nursing as a substitute school nurse and also as a private practice nurse to Dr. Faraldo.

Mildred was known for her strength, her kindness and her genuine interest in others. She enjoyed visiting with old and new friends and hosting gatherings in her driveway. She loved singing and sang with the Chansonettes of Westfield for many years. She loved going to the beach, walking her dog, Maddie, cheering on her granddaughters Emilia, Marina, Rhylee, Mia, and Rose at countless sporting events and just spending time with her family. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. She will be remembered for being a devoted mother and a loving Grammy. She was predeceased by her parents, Jerome and Amelia Rovelli, and her sister, Virginia Rovelli. Surviving are her beloved children, Julia, Jenna, Mark (Theresa); her grandchildren Emilia, Marina, Rhylee, Mia and Rose; siblings Delores (Jim) Lotano and Jerome Rovelli.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Friday, September 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue West, Cranford, NJ 07016. A funeral Mass will be held the next day, Saturday, September 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Helen’s, 1600 Rahway Avenue Westfield, NJ 07090. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
