WESTFIELD — A 71-year-old Kenilworth man was killed Friday morning during a multi-vehicle car accident on North Avenue West.

Police responded to reports of the crash, which also involved an overturned vehicle, at approximately 10 a.m.

As a result of the crash, the bicyclist sustained traumatic injuries.,” Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro said Friday, “Despite intense police and EMS efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene”

The man’s identity has not yet been released.

The investigation of this crash is actively ongoing. It is being conducted by the Westfield Police Department’s Traffic Safety and Detective Bureaus and is being assisted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
