Family Fun and Flix at Warinanco Park in Elizabeth. The free Family Fun and Flix program will run through August with various family-friendly movies. The Family Fun and Flix fun begins at 7:30 p.m. with family friendly festivities. An ice cream truck will be on site for attendees who wish to purchase a snack. Each movie, weather permitting, will begin at dusk. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket or beach chair to claim a spot on the lawn. DreamMakers, a handcrafting community, will meet Saturday, July 19 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. As part of its (Re)Imagining Westfield initiative, MLK Westfield and the Westfield Memorial Library are collaborating to provide a place for experienced and inexperienced knitters, crocheters, quilters, cross-stitchers, etc., to come together and work on their handcraft and to help others who are interested in learning. Astronomy Event, Tuesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. Paul Cirillo will present an astronomical event designed for ages 10 and up. He will show breathtaking pictures of Mars, Pluto and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn and help the audience discover what has been learned about planets around other stars and the search for another Earth. He will also discuss the next missions to explore space both manned and robotic. His presentation will also include the very latest astronomical images from observatories both on and off the Earth.
