WESTFIELD — After a round of engaged discussion Monday, the Westfield Planning Board voted to deem a new ordinance on solar panels “not inconsistent” with the town’s master plan. If passed by the town council, the ordinance would no longer require homeowners to match streetfacing solar panels to the color of their roofs. Mayor Shelley Brindle, along with board members Brian Capps,Ann Freedman, Alexandra Carreras and Westfield Fire Chief Michael Duelks, voted to deem the ordinance “not inconsistent,” while Vice Chair Michael La Place and Anastasia Harrison deemed it “inconsistent.” Chair Michael Ash and board members Matthew Ceberio and Ross Goldstein were absent from the meeting.
