What appeared to be a potential rout turned out to be anything but when the third-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood Softball Raiders hosted the sixth-seeded Westfield Blue Devils in the quarterfinal round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Playoffs on May 30. Trailing 6-0 after two innings, the Blue Devils plated four runs in the top of the fourth inning and had the goahead run on base in the fifth but an outstanding relief performance allowed the Raiders to escape with a 6-4 victory.
