Patience was necessary for the sixth-seeded Cranford baseball Cougars when they hosted the 11th-seeded Chatham Cougars featuring a topnotch pitcher in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 playoffs at Memorial Field in Cranford on May 27. The opportunities knocked in the third and fourth innings and the 14-10 Cougars capitalized to score all of their runs in an 11-1, four and one-half inning triumph.
