CLARK — In a continued effort to provide enhanced leadership support to and strengthen public-safety operations, Mayor Angel Albanese has announced the appointment of Patrick J. Grady as Clark Township’s first director of police.
CLARK — In a continued effort to provide enhanced leadership support to and strengthen public-safety operations, Mayor Angel Albanese has announced the appointment of Patrick J. Grady as Clark Township’s first director of police.
This newly-established civilian leadership role was created following the transition in control from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office back to the township. The new role provides executive-level support for strategic oversight and ensures sustainable leadership for the department moving forward.
The director of police will be responsible for guiding departmental strategy, overseeing operations and budgeting, fostering relationships with outside agencies, and deepening community engagement. The officer- in-charge will continue to manage day-to-day policing and internal command functions.
“By introducing a police director, we are building a stronger leadership framework that supports our officer-in-charge and the dedicated sworn officers who serve this community every day,” said Mayor Albanese. “Mr. Grady brings a wealth of experience in communityoriented policing that aligns with our vision for public safety in Clark.”
Mr. Grady’s distinguished career spans over 30 years in both law enforcement and private security. He served 25 years in law enforcement, including two decades as a police academy instructor, and rose to the rank of captain in the Clark Police Department.After his time with Clark, he led security operations at theAmerican Dream Mall, where he was instrumental in building the security team from the ground up. Mr. Grady was born, raised and currently resides in Clark with his wife and children.

The creation of the director of police position underscores Clark Township’s proactive approach to strengthening its public-safety infrastructure and implementing best practices for long-term strategic planning.
