Darby Revock went 5-for-5 with a pair of triples, three RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored to lead the Westfield High School softball team past the Brearley Bears, 13-7, on May 7. A game against the No. 14 Columbia Cougars on May 8 turned out to be a pitchers’ duel in a 2-0 defeat.
Against the Bears, Alex Laguna went 3-for-4, homered, scored three times and had three RBI. Quinlan Doherty went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Leah Abrams singled twice and scored three times. Ava Heuck went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Claire Kurtz doubled and scored twice. Grace Brodo singled, scored and had an RBI. Giada Petrarca singled twice and had an RBI.
Amber Zawacki went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for the Bears. Rian Beronio doubled, singled and scored. Jamie Lynn singled twice and scored once. Gio Principato went 2for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Liliana Coelho, Antonia Manee and Jamie Obuchowski all singled and scored once.
Against Columbia, Doherty singled and walked. Kayla Reyes andAbrams both singled. Revock and Kurtz both walked. Losing pitcher Heuck allowed six hits and struck out two. Maya Bernstein and Scarlet Levinson both went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Columbia. Charlotte Klepech doubled and scored. Eva Clevenger doubled. Jamie Tarrow scored once. Winning pitcher Claire Shupe recorded 15 strikeouts, three hits and three walks.
