District Staff Lobbies Board to Keep Social Studies Supervisor
SCOTCH PLAINS — The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education meeting last Thursday turned tense when more than 50 teachers and staff from across the district spoke out against the administration’s decision to eliminate Noel Baxter’s role of social studies supervisor and communications technology specialist. Superintendent Joan Mast, Ed.D., told attendees that, “If I need to add things, I have to give things up,” explaining the need to add an assistant principal at the high school, and to grow childstudy and counseling teams.
