Library Spotlights Events During April For All Ages

GARWOOD — The Garwood Public Library, located at 411 Third Avenue, has announced multiple events for all ages happening during the month of April. Library hours are Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays and also will be closed on Friday, April 18.

Storytime will take place on all five Tuesdays of the month, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join Miss Maryanne for stories and more. Registration is required and participation limited to 12.

The Knitting Club will meet on all four Mondays of the month, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, at 10:30 a.m. Attendees can learn how to knit or show others how it is done while enjoying fun conversation. This program is open to all levels and no registration is required. Yarn and needles are provided to newcomers.

Additionally on the Mondays of April 7, 14, 21 and 28, Kid’s Chess will be offered at 3 p.m. Informal chess games are provided for children of all ages. The format is noninstructional, supervised play. No registration is required and participation is limited to 12.

Grab and Go Kid’s Craft is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, at 3 p.m. Participants can pick up supplies and instructions for a seasonal craft. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants.

“From Italy with Love” will be presented on Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. This musical performance features an array of Italian classical songs performed by renowned vocal tenor Salvatore Chiarelli.

Grab and Go Adult Craft will be featured on Tuesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. Participants can pick up supplies and instructions for a seasonal craft. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants.

Adult Game Day is set for Wednesday, April 16, at 1 p.m. Members of the community are invited to play Rummikub, Sorry, Uno or cards while socializing with others. No registration is required and participation is limited to 12.

The Monday Book Club will meet on April 21, at 1 p.m., for a lively discussion of “The Briar Club” by Kate Quinn.

LEGO Club will meet on Wednesday, April 23, at 3 p.m. Participants are invited to take inspiration from the month’s theme or to build whatever comes to mind. Some creations will be displayed in the library showcase. Registration is required.

Garwood’s Second Annual Poetry Fest will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m., in honor of National Poetry Month. The event will bring together some of Garwood’s best local poets. Attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy live art, meet local artists and immerse themselves in the beauty of language. No registration is required. Aging Services Kiosk (ASK) will be available on Wednesday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to noon. Union County Division on Aging staff will be on hand to assist seniors (age 60 and older) or their caregivers with information on services such as meal delivery, respite care, adult day care and support services for caregivers.

Library Trustees Post Upcoming Meeting

GARWOOD — A meeting of the Garwood Public Library Board of Trustees will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, in the library. This meeting is open to the public. The library is located at 411 Third Avenue, Garwood.
