The Westfield Foundation’s Latest Grant Brings Healing Through Art at Trinitas

For more than 15 years, The Westfield Foundation has been a proud partner of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, awarding over $150,000 in grants to support critical healthcare, infrastructure improvements, and mental health services for vulnerable community members. Now, our latest initiative is bringing color, warmth, and healing to Trinitas’ Pediatric Health Clinic (PHC) through vibrant murals designed to uplift young patients and their families.

The Westfield Foundation recently visited the clinic to see the murals in person, witnessing the transformative power of art in a medical setting. “The Westfield Foundation was thrilled to see firsthand the vibrant murals we funded brought to life by the talented artists at Splashes of Hope. These dynamic works of art brighten the space and bring smiles to pediatric patients and their families, who rely on this vital community resource for care beginning at the pre-natal stage,” said Katie Darcy, Executive Director of The Westfield Foundation.

Located in the state-of-the-art Medical Arts Building in Elizabeth, the Pediatric Health Clinic provides more than 5,000 patient visits annually, ensuring children from birth to age 18 receive comprehensive medical care, routine checkups, and urgent sick visits— regardless of their family’s ability to pay. The new murals now serve as a welcoming focal point, easing the anxiety that often accompanies a visit to the doctor’s office.

The Westfield Foundation’s commitment to Trinitas extends well beyond the pediatric clinic. Over the years, we have also funded upgrades to inpatient rooms and provided key support to Trinitas’ New Point Specialty program, a 15-bed residential program for severely traumatized teens. This program, which serves at-risk youth ages 14–18, offers a safe, structured, and healing environment for those who have endured significant trauma. Our funding has helped create a more positive atmosphere in the facility, including a mural in the residential unit and support for cultural and recreational outings that provide teens with enriching, therapeutic experiences.

Director of Marketing & Public Relations Yolanda Fleming; The Westfield Foundation Executive Director Katie Darcy; Maribeth Santillo, MS, RN; Sr. Director of Nursing, MCH and Ambulatory Services and Laura Ciraco, Vice President of Development, Trinitas Regional Medical Center Foundation.

As The Westfield Foundation marks its 50th Anniversary, we remain dedicated to funding initiatives that promote healing, resilience, and long-term community impact. Through strategic partnerships like the one we share with Trinitas, we are ensuring that children, teens, and families receive not only the medical care they need but also a sense of comfort, dignity, and hope for the future.
