Multiple Activities Continue At Library During February

GARWOOD — The Garwood Public Library has released the dates for activities for adults and youth happening at the library during the remainder of February. Among the offerings are crafts, stories, music, games, chemistry lessons and a book club discussion. The library is located at 411 Third Avenue, Garwood.

The Knitting Club will meet on the Mondays of February 10 and 24, at 10:30 a.m. Sessions are open to all levels and no registration is required. Yarn and needles are provided to newcomers.

Kid’s Chess will be available on February 10 and 24, at 3 p.m. Informal chess games are provided for children of all ages. This activity involves non-instructional, supervised play. No registration is required but sessions are limited to 12 participants.

Storytime will be presented on the Tuesdays of February 11, 18 and 25, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join Miss Maryanne for stories and more. Registration is required and participation limited to 12. Grab and Go Kid’s Craft will take place on Tuesday, February 11, at 3 p.m. Supplies and instructions for a seasonal craft may be picked up at the library. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants.

Grab and Go Adult Craft also will be offered on February 11 at 3 p.m. As with Kid’s Craft, supplies and instructions for a seasonal craft can be picked up at the library. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants.

Additionally on February 11, “From Italy with Love” will be presented at 7 p.m. This musical performance will showcase an array of Italian classical songs performed by renowned vocal tenor Salvatore Chiarelli.

On Wednesday, February 12, Adult Game Day will be held at 1 p.m. Attendees are invited to play Rummikub, Sorry, Uno or cards and enjoy socializing with others. No registration is required but this activity is limited to 12 participants.

Crazy Chem is scheduled for the Thursdays of February 13, 20 and 27, at 3 p.m. Children in second grade and older are invited to make gooey slime, experiment with different reactions, and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the concepts young scientists explore in this trip through the chemistry lab. Registration is required and limited to 10 participants.

The Monday Book Club will meet on February 24, at 1 p.m., for a lively discussion of this month’s book, “Clete,” by James Burke.
