Library Posts Events That Get Underway Next Week

GARWOOD — The Garwood Public Library, located at 411 Third Avenue, has announced events for adults and youth beginning the first week of February.

The Knitting Club will meet on the Mondays of February 3, 10 and 24, at 10:30 a.m. Participants can learn how to knit or show others how it is done while enjoying fun conversation. Sessions are open to all levels and no registration is required. Yarn and needles are provided to newcomers.

Kid’s Chess also will be offered on the Mondays of February 3, 10 and 24, at 3 p.m., with informal chess games for children of all ages. This activity involves non-instructional, supervised play. No registration is required but participation is limited to 12.

Storytime will take place on the Tuesdays of February 4, 11, 18 and 25, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join Miss Maryanne for stories and more. Registration is required and participation limited to 12.

STEAM Activity will be presented on Tuesday, February 4, at 3:30 p.m. Participants will join the Steam Sharks from Union County Magnet High School for another adventure in STEAM. Registration is required and participation limited to 10.

Aging Services Kiosk (ASK) will be featured on Wednesday, February 5, from 10 a.m. to noon. Union County Division on Aging staff will be on hand to assist senior citizens (age 60 and older) or their caregivers with information on services such as meal delivery, respite care, adult day care and support services for caregivers.

Crazy Chem will be held on the Thursdays of February 6, 13, 20 and 27, at 3 p.m. Children in second grade and older will have an opportunity to make gooey slime, experiment with different reactions and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the concepts young scientists explore in this trip through the chemistry lab. Registration is required and participation limited to 10.

Additional activities happening at the library later during February will be announced in this newspaper. To register for programs requiring it, or for full information about library programs and services, visit https:// garwoodpl.org/. Library hours are Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays. It also will be closed on Monday, February 17, for Presidents Day.
