Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School senior Tom Dowling took second in the Holmdel Holiday Tournament during the last week of December. Of the 15 teams, Holmdel took the team title with a total of 228.5 points, followed by Colts Neck at 209. The Raiders placed eighth with a 96.5 total.

Competing at 285-lbs, Dowling received a bye then recorded a pin to advance to the semifinal round where he won by 12-3, majority decision to punch his ticket to the title bout where he lost to Holmdel’s John Gann via 4:49 fall. In the weight class just beneath Dowling at 215-lbs, Raider Paul Boyle grabbed a 2-1 tiebreaker over his Wall opponent to claim third place. Previously, Boyle received a bye, won by pin then lost via pin in the semifinal to wrestle for third.
At 190-lbs, John Boyle received a bye, won by pin then lost by pin in the semifinal to wrestle for third where he lost by 21-11, majority decision. Raider Anthony Aponti (138-lbs) won by fall then added an 18-3, technical fall before falling in the semifinal. In the bout for third place, he lost to finish fourth.
At 113-lbs, Justin Ellazar received a bye then lost his next bout to be cast into the wrestlebacks where he received another bye then won by 18-1, technical fall over his Raritan opponent to wrestle for fifth place where he won by injury default. At 126-lbs, Tristan Sirmans received a bye then lost in the quarterfinal. In the wrestleback, Sirmans received a bye, won a 6-0 bout then ended up placing sixth.At 150-lbs, Ryan Ricci received a bye then lost in the quarterfinal to be cast into the wrestlebacks where he won two bouts by fall then lost 9-5 to place sixth.
