WESTFIELD — The College Men’s Club of Westfield (CMC) will hold its annual holiday reception on Wednesday, December 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will take place at the Echo Lake Country Club, located at 515 Springfield Avenue, Westfield.
The event will honor the club’s current, four-year scholarship recipients. All current and past CMC scholarship awardees, their families, CMC members and those interested in joining the CMC are welcome to attend.
During this final CMC event of 2024, all the scholarship winners in attendance from the Westfield High School classes of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 will share updates on their academic and career progress.
Founded in 1922, the College Men’s Club of Westfield has for over a century helped hundreds of Westfield young men by providing college-tuition assistance and funding standardized-test preparatory courses. Since its founding, the CMC has raised and distributed over $1.4 million in higher-education assistance to young men of the Westfield community. In 2024, the CMC awarded a total of $75,900 in four-year scholarships and one-time grants.
Scholarship applications are available on the CMC’s website as of February 1 and are due by May 1 of each year. Applications are evaluated by a committee of CMC trustees each Spring. Funds for scholarships are generated through fund-raising events, donations, membership dues, endowment investment income and legacy bequests. The CMC will next host its annual Boxing Night fundraiser at the Kenilworth Veterans Center on Friday, February 7, 2025.
