Tai Chi, November 15, 22 and Dec 6 from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Westfield Memorial Library. Dr. Gang Huang will begin teaching another session of The Fundamentals of Tai Chi. Safe Sitter Babysitting Course, Saturday November 23, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Westfield Recreation Department is offering a Safe Sitter Babysitting (with CPR) certification class for teens in grades 6 to 9. Students learn lifesaving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information on what to do if there’s severe weather. role-playing exercises. Students will use CPR manikins to demonstrate skills for choking rescue and CPR and receive certification! Safety Skills: Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures, weather, or household emergencies. Child Care Skills: Students learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. They also learn the ages and stages of child development and childcare. First Aid & Rescue Skills: Learning skills such as choking rescue and CPR is often students’ favorite part of the class. Students also learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Life & Business Skills: The ability to screen jobs, discuss fees, and greet employers will set students up for success now and in the future. Pre-Registration is required. Holiday Food Drive, Westfield Fire Department’s FMBA Local 30 is running their annual holiday food drive. They will be working with local religious and civic organizations in the community to provide meal bags for over 140 families in need this year. They will be collecting non-perishable food donations and food store gift cards from now until Friday, December 6 at Fire Headquarters (405 North Avenue W.) and Fire Station #2 (1029 Central Avenue) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
