A Strong Partnership for Empowerment and Renewal

A Strong Partnership for Empowerment and Renewal

The Westfield Foundation is proud to share a longstanding partnership with the YWCA of Union County—a partnership rooted in mutual commitment to community renewal, support, and empowerment. Over the years, The Westfield Foundation has joined forces with the YWCA to help drive impactful programming and support for vulnerable populations, particularly survivors of domestic violence. Since 2005, The Westfield Foundation has invested more than $350,000 in various YWCA initiatives, directly aiding in board and staff development, leadership training, and providing crucial tuition assistance through the STEP program, which supports survivors of domestic violence. These programs are part of the YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. This mission closely aligns with The Westfield Foundation’s commitment to strengthening and renewing the communities it serves.

A cornerstone of this partnership was The Westfield Foundation’s $250,000 pledge toward the rebuilding of the YWCA’s headquarters in Elizabeth. After a devastating fire in 2019, the YWCA’s central facility faced an uncertain future. Thanks to generous support, including that from The Westfield Foundation, this modern, state-of-the-art facility will soon reopen as a safe haven for survivors. The building will offer critical nonresidential services such as counseling, court advocacy, and workforce development.

The relationship between The Westfield Foundation and the YWCA is about much more than rebuilding physical spaces—it’s about restoring lives, providing survivors and their families with tools to reclaim their independence and dignity. This partnership exemplifies The Westfield Foundation’s steadfast commitment to renewing brighter futures and stronger communities for all. As we look ahead, The Westfield Foundation remains dedicated to standing alongside the YWCA of Union County, united in a mission of hope, resilience, and empowerment.
