Three weeks ago, a pro-life banner was defaced at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church here in Westfield. This repugnant act took place as Catholics prepared to recognize October as Respect Life Month. Nationwide, anti-Catholic or pro-abortion radicals have targeted Catholic sites and symbols with graffiti and destruction. Some of these individuals have directed their objections to the Catholic Church’s pro-life stance, which teaches respect for all human life from conception to natural death, directly at the churches themselves. Whether the symbols spray painted on this banner were hexagrams, pentagrams, or anarchist symbols, this act is an affront to not only to Catholics but to all people.
