Somerville’s ‘Big Plays’ Jar Cougars in Grid Opener, 32-14

Going for the gusto was definitely on the Somerville Pioneer’s menu when they faced Cranford in the Cougars’ football opener at Memorial Field in Cranford on September 6. Senior quarterback Brenden Pacheco was firing long bombs all evening and did strike gold twice with touchdown receptions of 45 yards and 20 yards, while senior wide receiver/running back Josh Rodriguez rushed for a pair of touchdowns and added a huge touchdown reception to earn the 2-0 Pioneers a 32-14 victory.
