Mary Kasich

Mary Kasich, 75, Was Owner of Robert Treat Delicatessen

Mary (née Rotondella) Kasich, 75, of Wyckoff, formerly of Clifton, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024. Born in Hoboken, Mary moved with her family to Clifton in 1951. She graduated Clifton High School in 1966 and began working as a bookkeeper. On March 25, 1972, Mary married the love of her life, John “Jack” Kasich. They resided in Clifton where they began raising their two sons, John and David. Mary volunteered with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at School No. 9 in Clifton, where the boys attended school. She also volunteered as a team mother with Clifton Little League.

Mary, Jack and the boys moved to Wyckoff in 1990 and she again volunteered in the schools that her sons attended. In addition to raising her family and volunteering, Mary worked as the bookkeeper for the family businesses, the Robert Treat Delicatessen in Westfield and Henry’s Delicatessen and Liquors in Clifton. Mary was an asset to both businesses, particularly in Westfield at the Robert Treat Deli, where she took on the role of Store Manager. Mary was the face at the register in the front of the store. She established personal relationships with the families she served. The customers referred to her as “Miss Mary” and this name stuck with her until her retirement in 2016.

Mary fought cancer for approximately seven years. She was on hospice at home for two weeks and passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 1:17 a.m.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (née Porcelli) Rotondella.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Jack Kasich; two devoted sons, John Kasich and David Kasich and Monica Bartos and their child, Corrado Kasich; two sisters, Linda Rotondella and Fran Rotondella; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, N.J. Cremation was held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Community FoodBank of New Jersey, 31 Evans Terminal, Hillside, New Jersey 07205 (www.cfbnj.org), or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org). Visit www.bizubquinlan.com to leave condolences to the family on the Tribute Wall section of the obituary.
