Stanley G. Modoski, 88, Family Man, Westfield Public Schools Retiree

Stanley G. Modoski, 88, a longtime resident of Westfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, after a brief illness. Born in Jersey City, Stanley lived with his family in Westfield for 54 years. He was retired from the Westfield Public Schools district, where he was the head custodian at Franklin Elementary School for many years.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Stanley enjoyed coin collecting, collecting stamps and observing nature. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. He loved his faithful companion dog, Sadie, who never left his side. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcia (Gouze) Modoski; his beloved daughter, Susan Mary; his beloved son, Michael Stanley, and his beloved brother, John.

Stanley is survived by his sons, David Edward Modoski (Joseph Russo) and Steven Mark Modoski, and his daughter, LorraineAnn Dienst (Donald). Stanley was the loving grandfather of Jacob Modoski and Kristin Modoski (Keaton). He was the great-grandfather of Hailey Snapp and Uriel Modoski, and brother of Michael Modoski (Joanne). He is also survived by nieces and nephews John Modoski (Seana Walker Modoski), Michelle Vena (Victor), Mark Modoski (Lindsay Loderstedt Modoski) and Janel Modoski. Stanley’s visitation was held on Sunday, July 28, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 29, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westfield. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
