Mary Louise Landadio

Mary Louise ‘Mary Lou’ Landadio, 82, Devoted to Family, Friends, Teaching

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Landadio (Hasior) of Westfield, N.J., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2024. She was 82. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 9 a.m., at Saint Helen’s Roman Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Mary Lou was born and raised in Orange, N.J., and graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in 1960. She attended Kean College, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Education and later returned for her Master’s. For 35 years, she was a dedicated and passionate educator in the Newark Public School System, retiring in 2000 to spend more time with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.

Mary Lou met her husband, Dennis, a student at Seton Hall University, through a mutual friend who saw their potential connection. They married in 1965 and moved to California, where Dennis was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. They returned to New Jersey in 1967 and settled in Westfield, where they lovingly raised their two children, Bryan and Michael.

Mary Lou had a zest for life that was evident in her many interests and passions. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe and was an avid Broadway theatergoer. She reveled in time spent with her lifelong friends, including her cherished “ Valley Girls,” her dear colleagues, and her neighbors. Above all, Mary Lou’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured her children and grandchildren and took immense pleasure in family vacations, holiday and birthday celebrations, soccer games, tournaments, graduations, and every moment shared with her adoring family.

Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, Dennis, in 2021. She is deeply missed by her devoted sons, Bryan (Kathleen) of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Michael (Susan) of Sterling, Mass. She is also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Samuel, Bryan, Matthew, Kevin, Emma, Joshua, Timothy, Sophia and Isabella; her loving sister, Cecelia Laborati; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Lou’s name to Caring Hospice, 1090 King Georges Post Road, Ste 703, Edison, N.J. 08837.

Arrangements are in the care of Dooley Colonial Home in Westfield.
