WESTFIELD — The College Men’s Club of Westfield (CMC) has announced that it will once again hold its annual Poker Night fundraiser to benefit the club’s Scholarship Fund. Poker Night is one of the club’s two major fund-raising events to support deserving Westfield High School students on their highereducation journey. On Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m., the Kenilworth Veterans Center will be transformed into a Poker Room with professional dealers. The Texas Hold ’Em Tournament will be run until there is a declared winner, and prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place finishers. The Veterans Center is located at 33 South 21st Street, Kenilworth.

The initial buy-in for the event will be $200 and there will be multiple opportunities to rebuy. Venmo is the preferred payment method and can be made via @CMCWestfield. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the Veterans Center. Space is strictly limited to the first 100 players who RSVP through their buy-in.

The College Men’s Club of Westfield was founded in 1922 and over the past century has helped hundreds of Westfield young men by providing college-tuition assistance and funding standardized-test preparatory courses. Since its founding, the CMC has raised and distributed over $1.4 million in higher-education assistance to young men of the Westfield community to attend more than 130 institutions of higher learning. In 2024, the club awarded a total of $75,900 in four-year scholarships and one-time grants.

Scholarship applications are available on the CMC’s website in February of each year and are evaluated by a committee of CMC trustees each Spring. Funds for scholarships are generated from benefit events like Poker Night, donations, membership dues, endowment investment income and legacy bequests.
