SOFTBALL:
Cranford High School senior Sophia DeMarco was namedAll-State “Hitter of the Year”. Additionally, Demarco, who will play for Seton Hall next year, was selected All-State First Team andAll-Group 3 First Team as well as Union County “Player of the Year”. DeMarco whacked 14 home runs this season and recorded 48 career home runs.
Cranford senior Maddy DeLong was named Second Team All-Group 3. Scotch Plains-Fanwood junior Olivia DiSalvo was named Third TeamAll-Group 4.AL Johnson freshman Cassi Conforti was selected Second Team All-Group 2 and Governor Livingston Highlander Emma McElroy was named Third Team All-Group 2. The ALJ Crusaders were named Union County “Team of the Year” and were ranked first ahead of Dayton and Westfield, respectively.
BASEBALL:
Westfield Blue Devil second baseman JakeAlfano was namedAll-Group 4 Second Team and first baseman Braedan Trajkovski was named All-Group 4 Third Team.
Governor Livingston Highlander Matt Kosuda was selected All-State First Team. Highlanders Kosuda, pitcher Matty Diskin and third baseman Anthony DeNora were selected All-Group 2 First Team. Catcher Mike Basile was named All-Group 2 Second Team. Pitcher Keith Mann and DH Zach Geertsma were selected All-Group 2 Third Team.
