JCC Barracudas to Host ‘Meet the Coaches Night’

Scotch Plains – The JCC of Central New Jersey has three swim programs. The Barracudas Swim Team (ages 618) is the competitive team; the Mini-Barracudas (ages 5-8) introduces children to the swim team program, and the IntraCudas (ages 8-18) is the intramural program. The Barracudas are beginning their 24th season competing in the New Jersey JCC-YMHA Swim League.

On Monday, July 22 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., the JCC will host “Meet the Coaches” night for all in the community who are interested in any of the JCC swim teams. The event will be at the JCC of Central New Jersey, 1391 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains. Come meet Barracudas’ Head Coach Martina Varholova and learn all about the three programs. If you are new to the JCC, you can also learn about membership options and benefits.

The Barracudas had a great 202324 season. Varholova, head coach for over five years, enthusiastically embraces her role. “The Barracudas have always been about helping kids improve and teaching them how to be good people, how to take accountability, taste the delicious fruits of their hard work and have good times with friends. At the end of each season, I rejoice in everyone’s personal improvement. Kids and families love to be Barracudas!”

The upcoming Barracudas 202425 season begins on Monday, September 23 and runs through Sunday, March 2, 2025. Stroke evaluations are scheduled in July, August and September on various days and times. Visit www.jccnj.org/barracudas for specific information. You can also reach out to Martina Varholova at barracudas@jccnj.org or 908-8898800 x219.

The JCC of Central New Jersey is located at 1391 Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains. The JCC of Central New Jersey is a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ and the Westfield United Fund. Financial assistance is available for membership and various programs.
