Swan Hotel 13, Linwood II 6 Swan held a slim 8-5 lead after 5 innings, but then broke things open with a 2-out five-run rally in the bottom of the 5th inning to pull away. Doug Fischer took the hill for the Swannies and held the Linwood bats in check and was backed up by some slick defensive plays by John Mazur at the third base hot corner. Dan DiFidele (3-3) led the Swan bats while Bernie Maguire, Nick Russo, Nick Mennona, Marty Marks, Tom Ulichny and Marty Bernstein contributed two hits each.
Deegan 12, Linwood Boys 5 Art Paradise had 3 hits and Don Miller, Lou Balasteros, Tom Donnelly, Mike Backus and Sal Martino all had two hits each. Johnny Rachko pitched a fantastic game and made two great plays to lead the defense of the Roofers.
NJGovt’l Services 14, DeBellis Asso. 6 In the top of the 7th NJGS took a one run lead and then DeBellis scored a run in the bottom of the frame. With the winning run on base Debellis failed to convert. The game went to extras, and in the 8th inning the Gmen’s bats came alive scoring 8 runs and then shut down DeBellis’bats. At the plate for the Gmen Joe Hrubash had 5 hits, John Llano and Carl Herman 4 hits. Tomas Cruz 3 hits, with two hits each from Geno Raisley (HR), Frank Verducci, James Massarelli, Steve Landau and Gary Epstein. Pitcher Keith McDede earned the victory in his first start of the season.
Kenilworth VFW 13, Angry Joe’s Apparel 3 The Vets scored 5 runs in the 1st inning and cruised. Kenilworth’s hitting attack was led by Keith Durrett and David Ball with 3 hits apiece.
