Family Promise (FPUC), serving Union County for over 30 years, has significantly adapted since the 2020 pandemic to support families experiencing homelessness. In addition to diversion and prevention programs, FPUC is currently operating five emergency shelter apartments, providing basic accommodations to family units of four to six people.
A recent grant from The Westfield Foundation will furnish three of these apartments with essential items like couches, coffee tables, curtains, and beds. This support is crucial for creating a home-like environment, reducing stress, and providing stability, especially for children.
“This grant is an investment in Family Promise Union County and the community,” said Geleen Donovan, Executive Director. “As the real estate market challenges persist, Family Promise acts as a lifeline.”
Katie Darcy of the Westfield Foundation added, “These items represent safety, comfort, and hope for a brighter future. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this grant and how it shapes the future for these clients.” *** The Westfield Foundation’s purpose is to promote the betterment of Westfield New Jersey and its surrounding communities by enhancing the quality of life for all of its citizens.
