The fourth-seeded Westfield High School girls lacrosse team made easy work of 13th-seeded West Orange in the first round of the North Jersey, Group 4 Tournament with a 17-6 triumph in Westfield on May 22. Lucy Mineo with three goals and two assists, Abi Mokrzycki with three goals, an assist, six draw controls and a ground ball, along withAlice Manzo with three goals, a ground ball and a draw control led the 10-9 Blue Devils’ charge.
Kate Watson scored once and scooped four ground balls. Erin Hazard scored twice and had two draw controls. Gillian Cohen, Sara Rooney and Maeve Wojcik each scored once and had a ground ball. Emily Shabinaw and Sydney O’Connor each scored once. Maddy Coen had an assist and two draws. Lola Geoghan had an assist. Kate Paris scooped three ground balls. Goalkeeper Kaitlynn Czarnecki recorded five saves and Payton Monusky recorded one save.
Nyah McKinney netted three goals and added a draw control and a ground ball for West Orange. Bella Pinchan had two goals, five draws and two ground balls.
