SPF Raiders Beat Blue Devils For UCT Boys Volleyball Title

T. ENNIS NOTCHES 1,000TH-CAREER KILL VS ELIZABETH

The top-seeded No. 2 ranked Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School boys volleyball team defeated the third-seeded Westfield Blue Devils, 25-14, 25-19, to claim its sixthstraight the Union County Tournament championship at Kean University in Union on May 17. The 26-1 Raiders received a first-round bye, beat the eighth-seeded Plainfield Cardinals, 25-9, 25-14, on May 13 then advanced to the finals after defeating the fourth-seeded Elizabeth Minutemen, 25-15, 25-15, on May 15. The 13-10 Blue Devils also received a bye, stopped the seventh-seeded Hillside Comets, 25-15, 25-16, then managed to outdo the third-seeded Summit Hilltoppers in three games, 2025, 25-16, 25-23.

Tim Ennis recorded two kills, five digs, two assists and five service points against the Blue Devils. Quinn Donahue dished out 23 assists and added five service points and six digs. Dan Ennis finished with four kills, three blocks, eight digs and four service points with an ace. Ryan Pierson had four kills, five blocks and two digs. Kieran McElroy Barker recorded seven service points, two assists and eight digs. Mike Wojcik had eight digs and an assist. Brandon Indoe notched five kills, a block and two digs. Aaron Frank had three kills and three blocks. Ryan Adams had two service points.

No stats were listed by Westfield for the UCT title game. See below for stats against Hillside and Summit.

Tim Ennis notched 15 kills and added four service points with an ace, and three digs against the Cardinals. Donahue dished out 24 assists and added four kills, two blocks, five service points and two digs. Adams had 10 service points with three aces, and two digs. Dan Ennis recorded seven kills, five service points with a pair of aces, five digs and an assist. Wojcik had four service points, five digs and a block. McElroy Barker scooped nine digs and added two assists and three service points with an ace. Indoe recorded two kills, a block and three digs. Frank andAndrew Sicinski each made a block.

Cardinal Keiner Marrugo had a pair of kills to go with a dig, assist and a service point. John Messam notched four kills. Sebastian Calispa had nine assists, two digs and a kill. Kris Velez recorded two kills, a dig and a service point. Jefry Carvajal scooped four digs.

In the first game against the Minutemen, Tim Ennis recorded his 1,000th career kill and finished with 14 kills, two blocks, six digs and a service point. Dan Ennis recorded 10 kills, six service points with an ace, two assists and three digs. McElroy Barker had 10 digs, four service points, a kill and an assist. Wojcik had six service points with an ace, eight digs and an assist. Pierson had three blocks, a kill and a dig. Donahue recorded 24 assists, six kills, three blocks, four digs and a service point. Adams had six service points with an ace, and a dig. Indoe recorded three kills, a block and two digs. Frank had two digs, a kill and a block.

In the Blue Devils’ win over Hillside, Benjamin Bukiet-Beker recorded 12 kills, four digs and five service points with two aces. Chris Gonzalez had 12 service points with four aces. Veer Agawal had six kills, six digs and five service points with two aces. Logan Shepard had four kills, a block and two digs. Matt Bonn notched a pair of kills. Ryuichi Tanemori had five service points with an ace, and three digs. Brandon Genlot had two service aces, four digs and an assist. Sebastian Lorenzo dished out 23 assists and added four digs and a service point. Kueijiro Tanaka had a dig.

Hillside’s Javon Scott recorded 10 kills, three service points and three digs. Kavon Hayes recorded 14 assists, five service points and six digs. Aiden Amaya had two kills, two service points and four digs. Ken Tenemaza scooped seven digs. Xavier Siddons had two kills and a block.

Bukiet-Beker notched 13 kills, nine service points with an ace, and nine digs against the 14-8 Hilltoppers. Agawal recorded 19 kills, eight digs, a block and four service points. Genlot had 13 digs, a service points and an assist. Gonzalez had six service points with three aces. Shepard recorded three kills and two blocks. Lorenzo dished out 38 assists and added a kill, block and an ace. John Hickey scooped three digs.
