First Wednesday Luncheon To Feature ‘Civics Lesson’

WESTFIELD — “A Lesson in Civics: The Electoral College and Gerrymandering,” with Daniel Farabaugh, will be the program for the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon on June 5. It will take place at the newlyrenovated Echo Lake Country Club, located at 515 Springfield Avenue, Westfield, beginning at 11:45 a.m.

Mr. Farabaugh’s talk will focus on the current status of the United States Electoral College, gerrymandering and how civics is taught in schools.

A teacher of U.S. and world history for more than 20 years at the highschool level, Mr. Farabaugh also is an adjunct professor at the communitycollege level. He received both an undergraduate and master’s degree from Rutgers University and attended multiple conferences and professional activities addressing the issues of voting and voter access.

Those wishing to attend the luncheon may make a reservation by email to westfieldhistoricalsociety@gmail.com, or by calling (908) 654-1794, before Thursday, May 30. Participants are asked to advise if there are special dietary needs. The luncheon fee of $40 for Westfield Historical Society members or $45 for nonmembers includes a three-course meal, coffee/tea and gratuity.

The luncheon fee should be paid in advance (check payable to Westfield Historical Society) by mailing it to: Westfield Historical Society, P.O.
