The St. Thomas Aquinas (STA) baseball team won a 2-0 pitchers’ duel over the 14-6 Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders on May 7. Winning pitcher Nikash Patel recorded six strikeouts for 11-6 STA. Losing pitcher Jack Byrne pitched four innings and recorded six strikeouts. Anthony Veglia pitched two innings and recorded three strikeouts. Ryan Quinones went 3-for-3 and Jaden Carpien went 1-for-3. Joe DeFrancesco was hit by a pitch.

Hunter Krainski doubled for STA. Will Bethea and Declan DiCarlo each had an RBI single. Zach Diaz stole two bases and scored. Jack Valenzuela scored once and Lou Rizzolo singled.
