British Farce Returns to Westfield Community Players

WESTFIELD – Comedic confusion takes the stage as the Westfield Community Players conclude their season with the British farce See How They Run By Philip King.

Seventy-five years almost to the day when this play had its American premiere in Plainfield, the frenetic activities that roil a quiet English community still brings laughs as the antics unfold.

See How They Run is a high-spirited madcap story in the tradition of British comedy and farce. Mistaken identities, past loves and a little drink or two blend into a story full of physical comedy and laughs galore. When two old flames coincidentally meet up one September afternoon, they have a reunion that ignites everyone down the road of confusion, misidentification, and surprises-with an escaped prisoner getting involved.

This talented cast includes Ruth Kliwinsky, Timothy Mc Govern, Stephen A. Menella, Corrine Hower-Greene, Christie Storms, PaulArfanis, David Baker, Allan Gershenson and Jason W. Fuchs. The director is Bill Seesselberg, producer is Lois Stevens, and Ed Bontempo is stage manager and costumer.

Show dates are May 4, 11, 17 and 18 at 8 p.m., and May 5 and 12 at 2 p.m. at the theatre located at 1000 NorthAvenue West in Westfield. Tickets can be purchased through the website www.wcptheatre.org or by calling (908) 232-1221 and leaving a message. There will be a Mother’s Day special-bring a mom and get $10 off her ticket.Available with cash and only at the box office.

See How They Run is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc., and is made possible by funds from the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on theArts.
