April is poetry month and what better place to spend it than at the home of one of America’s first female published poets, Annis Boudinot Stockton! Join us to enjoy Morven’s gardens (weather permitting) while discovering the ‘magic’ of the People & Stories/ Gente y Cuentos method – making connections, transforming lives through literature – one short story at a time! Choral Art Society of NJ ‘Brothers Haydn’ Concert, Saturday, May 4, 8 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Avenue, Westfield. Join Choral Art Society of NJ for an evening of compositions by classical music’s most famous siblings. The program includes the Lord Nelson Mass and Te Deum by Joseph Haydn and the Missa in C Major by Michael Haydn. This concert also celebrates Martin Sedek as he takes the podium for the last time as Music Director and Conductor of Choral Art Society of NJ. Professional orchestra and soloists join Maestro Sedek and the chorus for this exciting musical event. Come share the experience! Adult tickets $30 in advance / $35 at the door. Senior/Student tickets $25 in advance / $30 at the door. Under 18 admitted free. For advance tickets and more information, visit www.casofnj.org. Astronomy Day, Amateur Astronomers, Inc. (AAI), the North Jersey Astronomical Group (NJAG), and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School will sponsor Astronomy Day entitled ‘The Science of Star Wars’ at Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside on Saturday, May 4 from 12-4 pm and at William Miller Sperry Observatory on the campus of Union College in Cranford NJ 07016 from 7:30 pm to 10:30pm. Both sessions are free to the public with free parking. No preregistration necessary. Both programs are rain or shine.
